Coventry City have secured their return to the Premier League after a quarter of a century away, with Frank Lampard’s team now aiming to avoid the drop this season.
Lampard has been backed to guide the Sky Blues to survival in the top flight following their promotion. The manager secured the Championship crown last term at his second attempt.

Jill Scott and Roy Keane both anticipated that Coventry would preserve their Premier League status. During the Stick to Football podcast, Jill Scott shared her bold prediction for the campaign. Roy Keane concurred with the former England international, humourously attempting to claim credit for the view. He stated his agreement and mentioned his backing for Coventry’s survival chances.
Nicky Butt offered a contrasting perspective, being among the few analysts downplaying Coventry’s prospects. During an episode of The Good, The Bad & The Football, he expressed the view that the gaps in quality are substantial and the financial disparities are enormous. While acknowledging the club’s spending, he suggested competing with teams positioned above them would be extremely difficult. He expressed hope that he might be mistaken, as he enjoys seeing promoted clubs perform well.
