A former colleague from Chelsea believes Frank Lampard was correct to remain with Coventry City during the close season.
The midfielder’s prospects attracted considerable attention before he committed to the Sky Blues by signing fresh terms, having guided the club to Championship victory and elevation to the Premier League during his initial complete campaign at the CBS Arena.
Speculation suggested interest from several top-flight establishments, yet he chose to extend his engagement through to 2029 by signing the documentation in late June.
Florent Malouda, who shared a dressing room with Lampard at Stamford Bridge, informed BOYLE Sports that Lampard had made a sound decision by remaining at Coventry, suggesting he had drawn lessons from previous situations.
He noted that appealing opportunities could sometimes create difficulties. When players, the organisation, and supporters place their faith in someone, such backing should not be dismissed lightly.
Malouda observed that Lampard receives trust at Coventry and will possess the necessary backing to achieve the club’s ambitions.
He added that for Lampard, this represents a logical advancement, as establishing such consistency would assist in developing his managerial approach and enable him to cope with greater demands in the managerial position.
Since finalising his extended agreement, Lampard alongside Coventry proprietor Doug King have been active in the recruitment arena, preparing the Sky Blues for Premier League combat.
Goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, defender Aurèle Amenda, midfielders Caleb Yirenkyi and Gus Hamer, plus winger Loum Tchaouna have all joined at the CBS Arena, while Frank Onyeka has completed a permanent transfer from Brentford following his temporary stint last term.
Additional new faces are anticipated prior to the transfer deadline, with the Sky Blues beginning their top-flight comeback against reigning champions Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
