Alonso, the Chelsea manager, has stated the club will not hurry any choice regarding Mudryk, the Ukrainian wide player Coventry are pursuing.
The Sky Blues have been monitoring the rapid 25-year-old in recent weeks, with the player expected to leave Stamford Bridge on loan before the summer window closes.
Coventry face rival interest from numerous clubs, particularly Leeds United, who according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano are preparing a fresh loan offer for Mudryk, with discussions ongoing after an initial proposal was turned down.
Mudryk is understood to be training separately from the main squad with only eight days remaining in the transfer window.
Chelsea begin their 2026/27 Premier League season at Fulham this evening. Ahead of the short trip, manager Alonso indicated choices would be made when appropriate, without urgency.
When questioned about Mudryk’s involvement at Craven Cottage tonight, Alonso told The Standard: We will see. We still have time to decide, and we don’t have to rush on many decisions and at the right time we will take them, at the moment not yet.
Chelsea want the left winger to regain match fitness with regular senior appearances following an almost two-year absence due to a suspension.
Coventry are understood to be working to secure Mudryk on loan and, according to TeamTalk, Chelsea are willing to consider reuniting him with club legend Frank Lampard.
Verdict: With Ephron Mason-Clark as Coventry’s only specialist left winger, Mudryk would bring proven Premier League quality and competition. Mason-Clark missed the Arsenal match through a pre-season injury, forcing striker Brandon Thomas-Asante to fill in. The Sky Blues lack depth in that position and the pacy Ukrainian appears ideal.
